Piccolo Pre-School Nursery was established in 2008 and continues to operate from The Chute Recreation Ground in Sherborne St John, Basingstoke. We are a term-time setting that provides high quality, outstanding care and educational learning for children 2years to 5years of age. 

The children at Piccolo always enjoy fun-filled days within our indoor and outdoor setting. We also have access to an enclosed field, small wooded area and park for young children, which we use for our sports day, nature walks and picnics. Our spacious setting has lots of natural light and allows us to include different areas of learning and development - here at Piccolo we want to help your children thrive by having the freedom to explore all areas within the setting, with the support of our brilliant team. 

Piccolo is an inclusive setting, that attends to every child. We aim to fully support and help your children's personal development, learning, social and emotional needs, as they begin to develop more skills. We encourage individuality, we want to give your children the best educational opportunities, that reflect their unique characteristics, fascinations and enthusiasms. The children will learn and develop their skills as well as their knowledge, through well-planned activities, playing with our wide variety of toys and puzzles, as well as 1-to-1 personalised learning time with their key person. 

We encourage the children to be independent when they are comfortable to, for example, putting their own shoes on and putting their own lunch boxes on our lunch box trolley. To further help your children transition from nursery to primary school, we have individual draws with your child's name on them, for which they can store the work they do here at Piccolo, ready to take it home at the end of the day, this also promotes name recognition.
Emotions can very overwhelming for children so young, this is why every staff member at Piccolo aims to help your child learn how to regulate their emotions and communicate their needs. We will help your child build confidence and self-esteem at their own pace, to help regulate their own behaviour and to deal with group dynamics.
